Shruti Haasan pairing up with Naga Chaitanya for the first-time with Majnu, the Telugu remake of Premam, is common knowledge by now. But a gossip has been doing the rounds in the film nagar circles.
During the pre-production stage, Naga Chaitanya had strongly recommended heroine Shruti Haasan for film as he genuinely thought she’d fit the role and at the same time bring craze and hype for the project. Chaitu had expressed that Shruti would be apt for the film to take it to the new high. However, producers were apprehensive as they couldn’t afford Shruti.
Especially post blockbusters like Gabbar Singh, Race Gurram and Srimanthudu, Shruti has become costly. But still Chaitu was keen on having her on board. And the YMC star reportedly agreed to cut down his remuneration by half crore for the film and makers apparently adjusted it in Shruti’s pay.
Chaitu’s last biggest hit was Manam and it was also a multi-starrer. So, Chaitu is very keen on scoring a solo hit which has been eluding him for sometime. And he is pinning all his hopes on the Premam remake.
One must appreciate Chaitu’s sweet, professional gesture to save his producers and thus avoiding his film going over budget. Well done, Chaitu.
